Prized Peony - GDP 285

Well hello and welcome crafters! It is time for yet another Global Design Project card, and this week is a colour challenge. We are going to be playing with these colours for today’s project...

. These three colours are so soft looking, I wasn’t quite sure what to create with these at first. I thought about creating a seascape at first for the very obvious reasons...yellow for the sun, blue for the water and gray for the sand. But for my project I decided to go with floral instead...just because why not!? And this is what I came up with...

To create this card I stamped the large peony stamp from the Prized Peony set twice...once in So Saffron and once more in Versamark then copper heat-embossed. I used my aquapainter to spread the So Saffron ink on the flowers, then die cut them using the coordinating dies from the Peony Dies. I then trimmed the yellow flowers and adhered them on top of the copper embossed stem.

Next I stamped the background diamond stamp randomly onto a piece of white cardstock using Seaside Spray, then used my ink blending brush to blend some ink onto the edges as well. I wanted a distressed look so I ran my scissors along the edges of my cardstock to ‘roughen up’ my edges. I then adhered this to a mat piece of Seaside Spray cardstock before adding my flower stem onto it and adding a linen thread bow.

For the background piece I used white cardstock and my Painted Texture embossing folder, then softly inked it with Sahara Sand using my ink blending brush again. This piece was then added to a mat piece of Sahara Sand cardstock. I also used half of a square vellum doily which I inked with Sahara Sand and then clear heat-embossed so that the ink won’t smear, and added this onto the side of my art panel. I added my sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings and some champagne rhinestones and Wink of Stella onto the flowers since I can’t make a card with no bling!

And that is my card for today as inspired by this week’s GDP challenge. These weekly challenges are a great exercise for ones creativity and is a great source of inspiration! Looking forward to the next one. Anyway thank you again for stopping by and hope to see you next time! Happy crafting!

Pretty Perennials - GDP 284

Hi friends! Today I had the chance to play with my Pretty Perennials bundle, and was inspired by the Global Design Project challenge of the week. This week's project was to CASE a card, so I tweaked my design to 'follow' Krista's beautiful card design.

And here's what I came up with...

To make my card I started with a white cardstock and blended some Mango Melody ink using my ink blending brush. Then I splattered some water onto my cardstock for an additional subtle effect. To add more dimension to my background I sponged my stencil from the Basic Pattern stencil set with some Gray Granite ink. I then trimmed this piece down to 3 3/4" by 5" and adhered it to a mat piece of Gray Granite cardstock.

Next for my flowers, I mounted my flowers from the Pretty Perennials stamp set onto my Stamparatus and inked them up with Magenta Madness. After stamping my images I then used my sponge dauber to add some Rich Razzleberry to the edges of the stamps to add some depth to my flowers. I then die cut these flowers using the coordinating Perennial Petals dies, and also some leaves in Gray Granite cardstock and the center of the flower in Mango Melody cardstock.

For the rest of my pieces I used some strips of Basic Gray and Rich Razzleberry cardstock and also a piece of vellum that I cut using the Everyday Label Punch. My sentiment from the Friends are Like Seashells set was stamped on a strip of white cardstock and added onto my card with a foam adhesive strip. Finally for embellishment I added some Gold Glitter Dots and the gold trim from the Forever Greenery pack for my ribbon. And of course I can't forget to add some shimmer, so I used my Wink of Stella on the flowers.

And that is my take on Krista's card, doesn't that just look so summery?! I'm so glad for the weekly challenges at GDP as it inspires me to create something totally out of my comfort zone and flex that creativity! Hopefully it inspires you as well to go create something beautiful! Thank you for stopping by today and I hope to see you next time. Happy crafting!

A Touch of Ink (GDP 281)

I needed to make a card for a friend, and I took inspiration from this week's Global Design Project challenge for my creation. Now this ended up to be quite a challenge for me indeed as it was a color challenge, and the colors were not ones that I would have used together normally. So I had to think and re-think my card design to fulfill this challenge. Here's what I came up with...

And these were the colors for this week's challenge:

I decided to use the Bermuda Bay sheet of Oh So Ombre DSP for my mat. Then I stamped the flowers & leaves outline from A Touch of Ink stamp set in Memento ink on a 2 3/4" x 4" piece of white cardstock. The insides of the images were then stamped in Blushing Bride and Bermuda Bay ink. This piece was then backed onto another piece of white cardstock 3" x 4 1/4", and then adhered to the ombre mat piece. I then adhered this whole piece onto my white A4 size card base.

For my sentiment I used my Well Written dies and die cut 'friend' out in both Blushing Bride and Real Red cardstock, then glued them together at an offset. Then I stamped 'Hello' in Real Red ink from the coordinating stamp set Well Said

Lastly for embellishment, I added some of the Real Red gems from the retired From my Heart faceted gems collection. Since my card was pretty simple, I decided to add some more bling by adding some Wink of Stella on my stamped images and Crystal Effects on my die-cut sentiment.

And that is my finished card...I hope you like it! This week's challenge really pushed me to be creative with this color combination. It took a while but I finally came up with something in the end. Thank you for stopping by and hope to see you again next time! Happy crafting!

All Things Fabulous

Hello crafters! Time for another Global Stampin' Video Hop, and this month our theme is floral, so of course I had to join in on the fun!

Needless to say, I love me my flower stamps...I just naturally gravitate towards them! So for this blog hop I decided to play with the gorgeous All Things Fabulous bundle. The three step stamping just makes it super easy to add depth to the images. Here's what I created...

I just love the softness of this color combination, don't you? Want to see how I created this card? Just click on the video below.

Well as always, thank you for stopping by. Be sure to follow along on the hop to see what my fellow demonstrators have created. I hope I was able to inspire you to be creative today in some way! See you next time, happy crafting!

October Global Stampin' Video Hop - Poinsettia Petals

Hello crafters! It has been a while since I last posted here...sadly, crafting has taken a back seat for a while due to this pandemic. Thankfully though, I finally had time to play and I'm back today with not one but two projects! Yay!

This month's video hop is a card with a matching project. Ever since I got my Poinsettia Petals bundle, I have been itching to play with it but just never had the chance. Well today, play I did! Here are my two projects...

I decided to make a Christmas card and matching ornament using non-traditional colors...just for fun! Here's a video on how I created these projects...

And because this was the first time in ages I got to play, I made other versions of this card as well.

This one is white heat-embossed on Seaside Spray cardstock...
And this one in Purple Posy.

Well that is all I have for now. Thank you so much for stopping by, hope to see you next time! Don't forget to watch the next video on our hop (link in the video comments). Happy crafting!
